Often found in shallow waterways, such as Jecha’s Crossing or some of the more passable areas of the Divide, river guardians patiently wait for anyone unlucky enough to enter their domain. At first, the creature appears to be nothing more than some discarded armor; a bit of copper and steel glinting half-buried in the riverbed. A closer inspection will almost certainly be interrupted as the river guardian forms from the surrounding water and lunges at the unsuspecting interloper. Seekers have become pretty adept at spotting and capturing river guardians, though, like any creature of the Wilds, they should not be underestimated. They are creatures of pure magic, servants of the god Keyet, and must always be fought where they have the advantage. Even in the Silvestrem, where their waterways are but a distant memory, river guardians have been known to summon massive waves to submerge man and beast alike.
The River Guardian is a unique ranged tank with above-average health and speed and one of the best defensive skills in the game. The River Guardian has zero Physical and Magical Defense, but its Keyet’s Bulwark skill ensures it cannot be damaged by any enemy who isn’t adjacent. Use its speed and range to draw out your opponent’s creatures, pushing them away with Tidal Wave if they get too close.
