Found in the aeries among the highest peaks of the Paelathron Mountains or along the limestone crags of the Yantaway Cliffs, gryphons are a noble presence in an otherwise untamed region. Before the Quiescentia, elven royalty attempted to tame the beasts to be used as mounts, but the practice abandoned after far too many servants and trainers fell to their deaths. Today, gryphon hunting is a dangerous sport, even among Seekers, the creatures’ uncanny speed and sharp talons can result in instant death to the inexperienced or careless. Unprovoked, gryphons can be quite passive unless they feel their nest is threatened, so it is not uncommon for Seekers to skip them entirely in search of far easier, land-based prey. In the Silvestrem, gryphons, like other creatures, languish in their pens until released to fight. The open sky of the arenas serve as a cruel reminder of the freedom they once had, Vareclea’s invisible dome keeping them from taking flight.
The Gryphon is a melee attacker with low health and high damage output. The Gryphon’s Agile skill allows it to activate twice in a single round, effectively doubling its speed and damage. The Gryphon has no other skills aside from Agile, forsaking utility for raw damage potential. Utilize every defensive measure in your arsenal to keep the creature alive, and you will be rewarded with a companion that can dish out an incredible amount of damage every round.
