Gurantev

Guardian of the Wilds

Gurantev

Before his capture, Gurantev was leader of a group of Ashcarii warriors known as the Guardians. Sworn to defend the Wilds and all who live within them, he sacrificed his freedom to safeguard the escape of Ashcarii pilgrims under his protection. Gurantev is a devout servant of Pael, god of justice and compassion. His faith and sense of morality have allowed him to remain unbroken by the Silvestrem and its sadistic owner. In combat Gurantev is ferocious, but fair. There are fewer deaths in the guardian’s matches than any other Assent, much to the displeasure of the Silvestrem’s ravenous spectators. Gurantev’s restraint has not gone unnoticed by his fellow gladiators. The Ashcarii is well-respected by many of his peers, offering hope in both word and deed in stark contrast to Drusus’s jaded realism.

Gurantev is a defense-heavy healer, able to provide area of effect healing and damage immunity for those under his command. He has high health and respectable physical and magical defense, but it’s important that he doesn’t overextend. Always selfless, Gurantev cannot use Heal Dice on himself, so pushing too deep into enemy ranks could result in his untimely demise. Instead, he should circle the edges of his opponent’s frontlines, taunting or stunning big threats to keep them off his weaker allies.

Gurantev’s Sacrifice and Reckoning skills allow him to control the battlefield and dictate when his allies take damage. Pael’s Rage helps him inflict some nasty debuffs while Onslaught allows him to be aggressive, ignoring his target’s armor.

Gurantev can equip one Armor and one Consumable; both slots able to capitalize on his inherit strengths. The Tower Shield provides versatile defense against both damage types while the Dragonsblood Potion offers a single-use burst of self-healing. Wispwing Salve could also be used, providing self and ally healing for free as well as removing any debuffs.
